DEFORMATIONS OF CERAMIC MATERIALS DURING MANUFACTURING PROCESS
Abstract
The manufacturing process of a ceramic product
includes many stages that introduce deformations in the shape of the object.
The shrinkage during the drying process, carried out before firing, is
practically linear and hardly affects the shape of the object. However,
the deformations that take place in biscuit firing and firing are clearly
more difficult to predict.
This study focuses on the deformations taking place
during
firing, aiming at establishing models of deformations of plate-like
object shapes. These models will make it easier for producers of ceramics
to accomplish exactly the desired end product. This study also prepares
the ground for the objective that various deformation phenomenacan be taken
into account in the future versions of computer-based design programs.
