The department has about 1450 m2 of space, of which about 600 m2 is used for ceramic studies, 600 m2 for glass studies, 150 m2 for offices and 100 m2 for research. 

The department is well equipped for studio scale production of both ceramics and glass as well as for computer aided design and research work. 

In 1997 the glass studio was moved to a new space´ous location in the first floor of the UIAH. The new glassworkshop allows two full teams to work in the hotshop simultaneusly. 

Students also have full access to the other workshops of UIAH (such as metal and wood workshops, general art studies, etc.).
