My thesis work is about finding a visual identity for a multipurpose building, a space without definite function, which the city of Helsinki wants to develop into a new kind of culture centre. It's a study of the character and specific needs of the building and its users and a sketch of an alternative corporate identity.
When The Cable Works started to work as an established, self-sufficient company the need for graphic identity arose immediately - although Kaapeli was well presented in the media and to the public for all the activities and happenings there, it wasn't graphically represented. The benefits of an effective, defined identity or recognisable image were not being realized through published communication.
The result of the artistic process was left on a conceptual level.MATERIALS: written essay, videotape
